Shinju Matsuri’s – That’s a Wrap!
What an incredible event that we were fortunate enough to experience first-hand.

Firstly a couple of thank you’s. To the Shinju Matsuri board, Shire of Broome, Government of Western Australia and all event sponsors and partners - Thank you. Thank you for your wonderful generosity you’ve provided financially and in the considerable time and effort you’ve invested to give our North West region an iconic event that has captivated a state. A special thank you to Project3 Events & Marketing for trusting us to carry out work for Shinju Matsuri since 2016.

An event that in these unique circumstances that 2020 shows us what incredible diversity and culture the North West of our state has to offer. From a personal perspective it was so refreshing to see so many West Australians showing support to our tourism industry. I think we speak on behalf of all regional towns who have done it tough this year that your support is not to be underestimated. Whether it’s as simple as refuelling your car on the road trip, calling into one of our historic towns famous bakeries or pubs, or perhaps you’ve stayed overnight at a town or two on the journey to and from Broome. All of this helps to get our economy moving and people feeling positive about the future.

And as a short ‘Public Service Announcement’ while Shinju Matsuri has come to a close for the year, there is so much of our great state to see. So we encourage everyone, young and old to get out and explore… You can be guaranteed an amazing time. #WonderOutYonder

Seeing the collaboration of everyone from event organisers, artists, performers, sponsors right down to the tireless work of committed volunteers was truly heartwarming. Seeing the Shinju Matsuri website we’re so proud of (just quietly) get inundated with web-traffic for tourists and locals carefully planning how to maximise their Shinju experience by checking event schedules, planning what to see and making the tough choices on what they simply don’t have time for is one of the years highlights for us here at Creative Canary.

We were wrapt to be able to get our hands on our very own 50 year Cygnet Bay pendant available on the Shinju website - a great keepsake from our journey.

Be sure to also check out our own website for a visual recap of the festival including some of our creative designs such as event programs and signage. Click here to see. We’re really proud of our journey partnering Shinju Matsuri as the creative partner again. This year we managed to help deliver creative large format signage, way-finding signage, digital and social executions, and a variety of traditional print and advertising solutions to ensure our audience was informed, entertained and as excited about the event as we were.

Being able to experience Shinju Matsuri first hand during such a milestone year for the iconic festival, has filled us with not only a lifetime of memories, but has already got us thinking about next year and how we can help drive the creative execution and marketing plan for the coming year… While we don’t want to ‘spill the beans’, we’ve already got some ideas we can’t wait to share. As soon as we know the dates, we’ll be letting all our clients and the world know that Shinju Matsuri 2021 - Is not to be missed!

For now though, it’s time to wash the red dust off the car, and put on a few loads of washing.
Broome - We miss you already. 🌴
