A Wet Season Escape

If you've ever wanted to experience Broome in the Wet Season here's the itinerary for you.
While dry seasons are very predictable (blue skies, max temp in the high 20s or low 30s) our wet seasons are notoriously unpredictable. Some years there is a lot of rain, other years not much at all. However. every year it's hot and humid. While Non-Indigenous people talk about dry and wet seasons, Yawuru people identify 6 seasons. The wet season spans 3 of the Yawuru seasons, Laja, Man-gala and Marrul. Our daily maximums are not much higher, but the overnight minimums are also higher, between November and March, it rarely gets below 25 degrees. The weather aside, there is so much to enjoy in our wet season. It's turtle breeding season, so you may get to see turtles nestling on Cable Beach or hatchlings making their way to the water in the morning. You may experience one of our electrical storms, so much better than Australia Day fireworks and you'll get to experience Broome-time and meet lots of locals.

Accommodation options

Here are 3 of our top recommendations for a wet season escape. Eco Beach is a small secluded resort about 120kms to our south, perfect if you are looking to get away from it all. Cable Beach Club and Bali Hai Resort are in the Cable Beach precinct and an easy walk to the beach for morning or evening strolls where you might cross paths with nesting turtles or hatchlings.

Iconic Experiences

The wet season is all about nature. Electrical storms, nesting turtles and hatchlings. Also the wet season is when the crocs are most active, its the best time to do a tour out at the Malcolm Douglass Crocodile Farm.

Events

We'll add the NYE events to this itinerary as the properties release them.

Iconic Tours

While some tours in Broome are seasonal, such as whale watching which is dependant on their annual migration, there are still plenty of great tours you can do during the wet season.

Best Places to Eat & Drink

Here are some of our favorite places to dine during the wet season. The Aarli is mainly alfesco, although it does have a small airconditioned section if you want to chill. The Little Local is the newest addition to the food scene in Broome and worth a visit any time of year. Then of course there is the Sunset Bar and Grill which has the best views in Broome.
