Plein Air in Minyirr Park

Follow Us:

8am to 11am
Painting ‘en plein air’ (painting outside) is a much loved artistic practice, and during Broome’s glorious dry season, it’s an opportunity to enjoy the best of this unique part of the world.
Award-winning local artist Amelia Jajko will lead a morning of painting in Minyirr Park where you’ll delve into the tones and patterns of Yawuru country to create your own art piece.
Base Camp is accessed by the road to Gantheaume Point. There we’ll welcome everyone with a cup of tea and discover a bit about the beautiful dune ecosystem from a local Yawuru Ranger. Amelia is well known for her visceral landscape paintings, and her observational approach has grown from an intuitive response to the world around her, seeking to relate a sense of light and spontaneity.
Amelia will help you to create a great landscape painting on canvas by guiding you to see the tones, patterns and light of your subject. Morning tea is a great opportunity to consider the work, styles and approaches that produce your unique works.
Tickets $75 via @sobroome. Numbers are limited.
All equipment, art materials and morning tea included.
